psIMAlerts Tutorials

The following tutorials provide guidance to get the most out of psIMAlerts.

1. Installation

2. Sending Alerts

psIMAlerts provides a number of very flexible options to specify recipients by supplying a single target id:

1. the id of a single Active Directory account
2. the id of a single Active Directory group (all members of an group and nested groups are recipients)
3. the name of an Exchange server(accounts assigned a mailbox on the Exchange server are recipients)
4. the name of an Lync or OCS pool (accounts assigned to the pool are recipients)

In addition recipients can be provided by pipelining.

In the following tutorials we use the psIMAlert Target Script Generator to generate a custom Powershell® script for a single target id:

2-1-1 Send test alert to single AD account using the 'Identity' option
2-1-2 Send test alert to single AD group using the 'Identity' option
2-1-3 Send test alert to accounts on Exchange Server using the 'ExchangeServerName' option
2-1-4 Send test alert to accounts on Lync or OCS Pool using the 'PoolName' option

In the following tutorials we use pipelining from various CmdLets to supply the list of recipients:
2-2-1 Send test alert to a list using pipelining and string input
2-2-2 Send test alert to Lync pool accounts using Get-CsAdUser
2-2-3 Send test alert to accoutns from a text file
